Here are 3 simple tips to start to clean out your internal closet:
2. Get it out of you. Write things down or talk with a Life Coach who can offer some insight. Seeing your own words or hearing your thoughts reflected back to you by someone else can give you a different perspective and open your mind to a new way of thinking.
3. Start small. Rather than create more overwhelm for yourself, begin with a small issue that is more of a nuisance than a deep-seated issue. Examine it. Clear it. Get practice with the small stuff. Then, move on to the bigger issues.
Cleaning up on the inside gives you a chance to be truthful with yourself about your feelings and start to sort them out. It’s the emotional equivalent of turning on the light in a dark room: the scary monster in the dark may turn out to be just an old coat rack with a lot of worn out clothes piled on it. Now, rather than avoiding the jumble of thoughts and emotions cluttering your brain, you have an inventory of your internal state and the power of knowing what resides in you and how these thoughts and feelings may be affecting you.
Make a commitment this year to declutter your inner self and open up a world of bright possibilities for the year ahead!
